Asheville Table Tennis Club (ATTC) is a relaxed competitive environment for the sport of table tennis. The Club is composed of players of all ages with skill levels from beginners to advanced regionally ranked individuals. The Club’s home is the Montford Recreational Center at 34 Pearson Drive, Asheville, North Carolina located just minutes off I-240 near the center of town. This setting provides a spacious playing environment with excellent tables, good lighting and hardwood floors.
The Club members pay an annual fee to be part of the club but visitors and guests are welcome and can play for a modest daily fee. City regulations require a valid photo id to enter the Montford Center. Street shoes are not allowed on the floor and players are encouraged to change into appropriate footwear upon entering the facility.
ATTC is known for its friendly atmosphere. The competition is keen but based on a high level of sportsmanship. Most matches consist of the best of five 11 point games, or the best two out of three if a large number of players are waiting. Players stay at the table for two matches then step aside after two matches. The winner of the first match played remains at the table for a second match, then rotates after the second match. This system provides for fair and frequent access to play by all.
The Asheville Giant RR U1900 was held on November 8, 2014. Players ranked below USATT’s rating of 1900 from five states competed in five divisions for cash prizes.
